Description

The Harvest. . . that is the moment when steel meets wheat for the first time - the moment that symbolizes the beginning of a time-honored process. The next time steel will meet wheat is on the breadboard during the centuries-old tradition of blessing, cutting and enjoying the festive (usually braided) challah bread at sundown before Shabbat.

For such a blessed ceremony, your challah deserves to be cut by a knife that glorifies and honors the origins of bread, a central symbol of our Jewish origins.

Hoshen Design Studio has created a wheat and Jerusalem-themed challah cutting knife. The european oak handle and the 440A-grade stainless steel blade combine the designs of blowing wheat stalks with beautiful intricate details of Israel’s holy city.

The handle is made of quality European oak, varnished with food-grade Danish wood oil to preserve the wood against humidity. It depicts the glorious city of Jerusalem.*

The blade is decorated with wheat stalks that lie naturally along the knife to provide the sense of movement characteristic of wheat in the field*; it is constructed of 440A stainless steel, of especially strong and high quality, which has been hardened to an ideal toughness. The blade begins at the handle and creates a uniform and very durable piece.

The loaf will be blessed and cut with the honor of the folklore, tradition and symbolism that comes with it.

*Due to the use of wood and hand tool woodworking techniques, each product is unique in itself and might differ slightly from the picture you see here.

Length: 14-1/10" (36 cm); blade thickness: approx. 1/2" (1.5 mm); handle thickness: 4/5" (2.3 cm)

Consider pairing this knife with Hoshen's gorgeous wood challah cutting board sold here on MIP.
